Welcome to a website, now under construction, for Ohio Bicentennial Minutes. This is a collection of 261 90-second radio modules, one for every weekday in 2003, Ohio’s Bicentennial year. All or parts of the series aired on approximately 35 public and commercial radio stations in Ohio.
Ohio Bicentennial Minutes was conceived and produced at WMUB Public Radio, Miami University, Oxford, Ohio. Major support was provided by a grant from The Ohio Humanities Council, with support from the National Endowment for the Humanities. Production began in 2002 and continued through 2003.
Co-Executive Producers were Cleve Callison, General Manager of WHQR from 1997-2009, and the late John Hingsbergen, Program Director from 2000-2009. Historical supervision was provided by the late Andrew Cayton, Professor of History at Miami University until 2015, later Warner Woodring Chair in History at the Ohio State University, and author of Ohio: The History of a People (The Ohio State University Press, 2002). Research assistance was provided by the Ohio Historical Society and others.
